MEET THE ARTIST

Chifundo/Salem Phiri (pseudonym: CY!) is a multidisciplinary and self-taught artist. Born in Zambia, and raised in South Africa, she has always been passionate about the art world.

 

The pseudonym "CY!" and fully, "CYIMAKEART" is a play on the sentence: "See why I make art." As you see their art, she hopes that you see the world through her lens, interpret her work in their own way and takes the time to understand why she makes art.​

Currently, she specializes in digital art but, Salem also works with fabric, paint, oil pastels, ink and pencils (graphite). They're aiming to learn different art mediums and expand artistically. She uses her finger to draw on her phone to make these digital artworks using the app Ibispaint X.
